Advanced First Aid
Course Summary
This course is designed for those who require training that conforms to the recommendations of the Australian Resuscitation Council and provides the knowledge and skills to provide advanced first aid response, life support and management of the casualty, the incident and other first aiders until the arrival of medical assistance.
This course incorporates the content of:
- HLTFA301B Apply First Aid
- HLTFA404A Apply Advanced Resuscitation Techniques

Delivery
The expected duration to complete this course is 24 hours training and assessment. This is achieved via the same methods as the Apply First Aid course with an additional 8 hours of face to face practical training and assessment, meaning this is a 2 day face to face course.
An eight hour refresher course is available for students who hold a current Apply Advanced First Aid certificate.
Content
All content contained within Apply First Aid and Apply Advanced Resuscitation Techniques with the addition of:
- Defibrillation (AED) and Oxygen Administration
- Triage
- Drug Administration (within State Legislation)
- Emergency Childbirth
- Manual Handling
Award Issued
- Statement of Attainment & Wallet Card in HLTFA402B – Apply Advanced First Aid
- Valid for three (3) year from the completion date
Prerequisites
- Participants must be 15 years or older
