Fire Warden & Evacuation Training
Course Summary
This course is a unit nationally approved and accredited (CPPSEC3017A – Plan and conduct evacuation of premises) and has been specifically designed to provide personnel with the knowledge and skills to perform their roles as Wardens as per the Australian Standards in accordance with the requirements of AS 1851 -2005 Section 19 Emergency Evacuation Procedures and AS3745 – 2002 (soon to be revised as per DR07019 Planning for emergencies) and integrate this with the Emergency Plans and Procedures of the business.
Fire Warden Training is conducted on the client’s site. This training and the accompanying exercise will meet the requirements for Maintaining Procedures as specified in both Standards.
Designed to provide participants with the skills, knowledge and experience to perform the duties of a warden and floor/area warden, it provides knowledge in using human behavior characteristics during the stressful time associated with emergency systems operations and communications needs to safely and effectively deal with workplace emergencies.
The course is composed of five sections:
- Introduction to the Legislation and Australian Standards
- Evacuation Procedures
- Introduction to Portable FireExtinguishers
- Evacuation Exercise
- Handouts included
Total course duration is approximately 2 hours depending on the client's specifics
Content
This course is designed with flexibility, so it can be adapted to cater for special needs of the client.
Topics include:
- Reasons for evacuation
- Basic fire prevention
- Bomb threat procedures
- Evacuation procedures (with practical work)
- Raising the fire alarm
- A debriefing session
