This type of training gives the first aider greater confidence as the casualty may be isolated from professional help for some hours.

Course Summary

This course is designed for those who require training that conforms to the recommendations of the Australian Resuscitation Council and provides the knowledge and skills to provide first aid to a casualty in a remote and/or isolated situation where emergency services may not be able to respond for extended periods.


This course incorporates the content of:

HLTFA302A       Provide First Aid in a Remote Situation

(from the Health Training Package HLT07)


Delivery

The expected duration to complete this course is 24 hours training and assessment.

This is achieved via the same methods as the Apply First Aid course with an additional 8 hours of face to face practical training and assessment, meaning this a 2 day face to face course.

All content contained within Apply First Aid with the addition of: 

  • Preparation for isolated work and/or travel
  • Communication systems
  • Evacuation and transportation procedures
  • Prolonged casualty care  
  • Improvise treatment and resources
