Provide First Aid HLTAID003

Full or Refresher – $130

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty. The unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings covering the knowledge and skills to provide first aid response, life support, management of the casualty(s) and resuscitation.

National Course Code

The content of this course covers the following codes:

  • HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • HLTAID002 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support
  • HLTAID003 Provide First Aid

(previously known as Senior First Aid/Apply First Aid)

Delivery Options

Students are to complete pre course theory via self-paced learning using either our on-line course or we can send out a workbook and manual. This takes on average 2 hours to complete, with some people taking much more. (There is no time limit)

Upon completion of the theory students are required to attend 8 hours of face to face workshop.


A refresher course is available for students who hold a current Provide First Aid certificate (or equivalent), in which case there is no pre course theory to complete. Students just attend the 8 hours of face to face workshop.

  • HLTAID003 – Provide First Aid
  • Valid for 3 years from the completion date


Participants must be 14 years or older.

*Please note, it is a requirement of this course that practical demonstration of CPR must be performed on the floor.
